Opening Our Doors

There is a specific kind of magic that happens when a vision finally meets the community it was built for. On November 7th, that magic was on full display at 521 First Street when Common Room Coworking officially celebrated our Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting.

We couldn’t have asked for a warmer welcome! From the moment the ribbon was snipped alongside the Benicia Chamber of Commerce, the space was filled with the exact energy we dreamed of: local entrepreneurs sharing ideas over refreshments, remote workers touring the space with excited eyes, and neighbors simply stopping by to see the transformation of this historic downtown spot.

For too long, the choice for Benicia’s remote workers has either been the isolation of a home office or the bustle of a noisy coffee shop. Common Room Coworking provides a third option: a professional, beautiful, and intentional community where you can do your best work and then walk to the waterfront, coffee shop, or boutique for a brain break.

Our doors are open, and the first coworkers will set up at their desks on Monday, November 10th, 2025. We can’t wait!

We are proud to acknowledge Benicia City Councilmembers Terry Scott, Kari Birdseye, and Lionel Largaespada for attending the event, along with Benicia City Manager Mario Giuliani, and Dr. Gethsemane Moss, District Representative for State Senator Christopher Cabaldon.

Special thanks to Randy Young and Michelle O’Leary at the Benicia Chamber of Commerce for their support of the Common Room Coworking vision, and to SIPS - The Bottle Emporium for providing the event’s refreshments.
